Geisenheim near Frankfurt am Main, 12 November 2025 – Pekutherm Kunststoffe GmbH is now certified according to ISCC PLUS (International Sustainability & Carbon Certification). This internationally recognised standard is one of the leading systems for the auditable use of recycled raw materials. The family-owned company, which has specialised in recycling technical plastics such as acrylic glass (PMMA) and polycarbonate (PC) since 1985, reinforces its long-standing commitment to the circular economy, resource conservation, and climate protection. The certification ensures verifiable transparency and traceability throughout the entire supply chain and provides customers with proof of origin as well as reliable, consistent quality.

ISCC PLUS Confirms Certified Recycling Standards, Quality, and Accountability
ISCC PLUS is a voluntary, globally recognised certification system for sustainable and circular raw materials. It ensures that material origin, sustainability criteria, and full traceability along the entire supply chain are documented. The standard covers numerous material streams—including plastics such as PMMA and PC. Certification is based on independent audits and transparent documentation that verify compliance with sustainability and circularity criteria.
“Certified transparency is the foundation of trust. The ISCC PLUS certification shows that our recycling processes meet the highest standards. Above all, it makes visible what has motivated us for decades: turning residual materials into reliable raw materials,” said Heiko Pfister, Managing Director of Pekutherm GmbH.
Scope and Processing Capacity
Pekutherm’s ISCC PLUS certification covers all plastics processed at the company’s Geisenheim site, including PMMA, PC, PETG, PP, PE, PVC, and SAN. As a certified waste management specialist, the company plays a significant role in plastic recycling in Europe. With a current sorting capacity of up to 10,000 tonnes per year, large quantities of plastic can be efficiently processed and converted into high-quality recyclates. This provides a tangible boost to a robust European circular economy with short transport routes and reliable supply chains.
Processes and Customer Benefits
Pekutherm uses a manufacturer-independent, in-house developed processing system for thermoplastic materials such as PMMA and PC. The 100% pure-grade, multi-stage separation and careful processing method ensure recyclates with consistent properties and processing behaviour comparable to virgin material.

The ISCC PLUS certification further strengthens the already high level of trust customers place in Pekutherm. Material origin and flows are fully documented, and all processes are independently verified. This increases transparency, simplifies approvals, and makes supplier audits considerably easier. In short: the certification makes material origin traceable and supports confident decision-making.
For waste owners (suppliers), this means maximum sustainability and legal compliance, as their waste is demonstrably reused in closed-loop material cycles and recycled sustainably. Suppliers thereby fulfil their due diligence obligations regarding the disposal and reuse of waste in the best possible way and meet all regulatory requirements.
Pekutherm is Germany’s leading recycling company for acrylic glass (PMMA) and other thermoplastics and has developed a sustainable recycling cycle for these materials. Sorting and subsequent processing produces a high-quality raw material that is available for new PMMA or PC products. Pekutherm takes the first step towards a new life for the plastic product with its own Ecoboxes, which are placed at companies where PMMA waste or other semi-finished thermoplastic products are produced as waste or off-cuts. The product is processed into granules at the plant. The raw material obtained in this way can be used to make new components that are environmentally friendly and conserve resources.
